RS research work

Having the aim to improve and develop the RS normative documents and the means of control over ships and offshore installations at all stages, beginning from the design, Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) is engaged in considerable research activity.

The RS research work is coordinated with the participation of Scientific and Technical Council (STC) being the RS expert and advisory body.

The STC consists of a presidium and 20 specialized committees, subcommittees and working groups. The STC activity includes preparation of proposals for improvement of the RS Rules and Guidelines. More than 300 specialists, including 2 Academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), 2 RAS Corresponding Members, 54 Doctors of Sciences and 87 Masters of Sciences, participate in the STC activity.

They are scientists working in large scientific shipbuilding and design centers, shipbuilding and maritime institutions of higher education. The STC incorporates the representatives of shipyards and shipping companies.

The RS research work rests on the basis of long-term (for 5-year period) and annual planning.
