Certification of Safety Management Systems

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) Certification of Companies and Ships for Compliance with the Requirements of the International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention (ISM Code).

RS has a wide network of representations in Russia and abroad, 341 highly-qualified ISM Code auditors are ready to perform all the necessary works on survey and certification all over the world.

RS has accumulated wide experience in the company and ship certification for compliance with the ISM Code requirements.

RS has authorizations from many Maritime Administrations to perform certification work on their behalf, namely, Azerbaijan, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Vanuatu, Vietnam, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Cyprus, Cuba, Latvia, Liberia, Lithuania, Malta, Marshall Islands, Russia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Croatia, Turkey, Ukraine, Estonia, Equatorial Guinea, Honduras, Egypt, Turkmenistan.

RS can also perform certification work for compliance with the ISM Code requirements on behalf of other Maritime Administrations not included in the above list, but in this case a preliminary agreement with relevant Administrations would be necessary.

List of Services

• Certification of companies and ships for compliance with the ISM Code requirements on behalf of different Maritime Administrations (mandatory certification).
• Certification of companies and ships not coming under the requirements of Chapter IX, SOLAS-74 and amendments thereto for compliance with the ISM Code on behalf of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (voluntary certification).
• Rendering of advisory services in development of documentation pertinent to the Safety Management System (SMS).
• Consideration and approval of documentation pertinent to SMS.
• Training of the company and ship personnel who are to work in accordance with SMS.
• Preliminary visit to the company premises in order to determine whether the company and its ships are ready for the ISM Code certification.
• Prompt settlement of issues and information interchange with port authorities regarding the questions of operation of the RS-classed ships.
• Auditing and certification of maritime training and trainer centres for compliance with mandatory requirements of the STCW Convention and the 1995 amendments thereto on behalf of the various Administrations.
